THE DISAPPEARANCE OF JENNA DRAGO
by Al Blanchard

A James Callahan Mystery
ISBN 0-9718758-8-X (306 pages) $19.95

Jacket Blurb:
James Callahan, now retired from the Boston police force, has no trouble setting aside his new career as an artist when an old college friend calls for help to find his missing teenage daughter. Reliving the agony he experienced a year ago when his own daughter, Mandy, was kidnapped, Callahan quickly discovers the quiet little town of Northview is a hotbed of secrets. After finding himself falsely accused of a crime and following clues that lead to a haunted house and a witch's circle, Callahan and his trusted friend, B.J., uncover a murder and other mysterious events before their investigation finally draws to a stunning conclusion.

Excerpt:
Voices up ahead. A man and a woman talked softly.
B.J. motioned behind them toward a men's room they had passed. Within seconds they pushed inside. Callahan went into one stall and B.J. the other. They clicked both locks. Callahan dropped his pants and sat on the hopper.
The door creaked open and a man entered whistling. He groaned as he urinated, then flushed. Through a crack in the toilet wall casement, Callahan watched a short, husky man wash up in the sink. He slicked back his hair with his fingers, moved his head from side to side, checked his teeth, and then dried his hands with a paper towel.
When the door closed they came out of their stalls.
"There's that glamour thing, again," B.J. whispered. "Sitting on the toilet seat with my pants down hoping this guy doesn't have to do a number two and is planning on waiting. How come you never told me about the more attractive parts of this job?"
"Just wait until you have to sift through someone's garbage looking for a clue."
"B.J. does not look through garbage. B.J. will hire someone to do that task."
