Excerpt:
SHATTERED CHILD
God bless the shattered child,
With no self-esteem and a broken smile,
No hopes, no dreams, future torn apart,
Lives held together with a broken heart.
Children patiently waiting every day,
For love and happiness to come their way.
God bless the
shattered child,
With little or nothing to make them
smile.
Hurting hearts and tear-stained eyes,
Because of the many nights they've
cried.
Knowing deep inside how much they
have to give,
But can't because of the way they're
forced to live.
Too young to
understand the reason why,
They've spent many sleepless nights
wanting to die.
Shattered children were never meant
to be,
No love, no beauty, nothing good for
them to see.

Fannie Hawkins,
born and raised in Chicago, became a Muslim. She married, had four daughters and
became the perfect housewife and mother, making all her family's clothes.
But God began a
work in her life. And after a terrible fall that left her in a coma for three
weeks, she began to see and experience God's wonderful love. She received a
miraculous healing, instead of dying. In the midst of her trials and
tribulation, she received the answers to her prayers--a friend who became her
husband, money to pay her bills, and deliverance from medication the doctors
said she couldn't live without.
In 1989 Fannie
moved to Holland, Michigan where she later felt God calling her to join a
writing class at her church. She began writing down on paper her feelings about
the things around her, often inspired by a single word. The result is His
Spirit Within Me.
